In Conclusion: My Conclusion for the 1311 Tech Article Review
Chad and Miller (2005) begin their argument by discussing problems that are facing libraries today, such as the changing expectations of library users. They continue by describing the growing popularity of Web 2.0 applications. Furthermore, they discuss whether or not these types of applications could benefit libraries, and finally, they discuss how libraries might employ Web 2.0 applications, thus becoming Library 2.0. This argument reflects evidence, opinions, and examples from external sources, including the library literature, and although Chad and Miller offer a well organized argument in “Do Libraries Matter? The Rise of Library 2.0”, they could have supported it better by utilizing a greater number of resources.

Word to the lack of resources! I really wasn't crazy about Chad and Miller's piece. I think now that I've had to live with it for A WHOLE WEEK, I've started to genuinely hate both of them.
I liked it and agree that at least Chad and Miller did something for the library profession. We need to see the changing needs of the era.
I was so busy thinking about the MANY things that annoyed me about the Chad and Miller Library 2.0 paper, that I didn't even think about the lack of resources. You make a terrific point - the paper is pretty weak, but as you have so astutely pointed out, also very unsupported...and what is a "technology evangelist" anyway? That alone should send up some warning flares!
I agree with you about the lack of sources to back up what they were saying. I mean, I guess since it's a white paper they don't really have to but to me if you are going to try to sell an idea to librarians you should be able to back up what you have to say. That said it lead me to do some of my own research and I found a very interesting study done by the OCLC.
Its linked on my blog if your interested.
